I had this bug a few years ago, and after reinstalling Windows, it's back.

Currently running Skype for Business 16.0.4498.1000 and the problem is still there. < and > characters are inserted into file paths. Please stop manipulating with the text I send.

Actually the log does show in SOME situations. But in the most common scenario - double clicking a person in the contact list - it does not. This is quite annoying.

Other chat clients just have a simple adjustable setting like "Show [50] lines back" which means you ALWAYS see the last 50 messages. It's simpler and better. Take a look at Miranda or Trillian for inspiration.

Yup, confirmed. File paths are still being destroyed by < and > characters when pasted in Lync 16.0.4432.1000

Yup, confirmed. Happens at the first click on a link in Lync.
It even happened right now when clicking the yellow smiley to confirm the existence of this problem.

@Anonymous (Dec. 14, 2015): This isn't quite what we're asking for here. First of all, that tweak changes Outlook (I do not want that). It also does not change "Enter" into making a newline. Please refer to the topic of this change request.

@Renat: I believe this is not a question of new vs. old, but rather a matter of confusion between single-line and multi-line input fields.

In a multi-line input field like a text editor or an email program or an instant messenger which allows for "long" messages to be written, I think it makes by far the most sense to use enter for a new line. Outlook already works this way.

Other chat systems like IRC do not allow messages to contain linebreaks at all, and here it makes sense for enter to send the message.

Of course there are exceptions to this - exceptions based on poorly thought through designs and bad habits - and even if Lync will not stay compatible with Outlook's hotkeys by default, it should at least allow people to choose this in Preferences.

This helps indeed, but it seems slightly counter intuitive. In other applications, what you select is what is being copied.

To match this, I propose renaming "Copy message" into "Copy", and renaming "Copy" into "Copy with info", as this would better match the behavior in the rest of the OS. Also, Ctrl-C should invoke "Copy" and not "Copy with info".
