Improve the noticeablility of OWA Skype for Business notifications
Need a way to improve the noticeability of received Skype for Business IMs in OWA.
This could be through a separate or more "in your face" notification (e.g. flashing S4B icon) alerting users that there are IMs waiting. Also, adding an option for received S4B IMs to automatically open a chat window.
Currently, notifications for Skype for Business are not easily distinguishable from other notifications on the OWA notifications pane. This causes users using the web client to overlook IMs for lengthy durations, which is problematic since IM is typically used for instantaneous communication.
I agree completely -- flash the icon until it is answered or read. I miss 95% of my notifications because it only flashes approx. 20 seconds. This is not great when working remotely and co-workers are trying to instant message with you.

Old OWA used to do this as an option which was perfectly fine. Can't understand why it was removed. IM is basically useless without this as how would you ever know that an IM has been received.

Same experience over here
IM's I send to colleagues are often only noticed hours after I sent them. Or the other way round... I am responding (too) late to IM's simply because I don't notice the alert soon enough. So then it is back to the phone or mail (which oddly enough people seem to respond to more quickly :-/)

I find similar issues exist on Skype for Android. I miss notifications because alerting options are too limited and none are aggressive. While the passive tones are fine in quiet office environments; in traffic on foot or in a car or elsewhere as greater ambient sound levels are normal I must habitually look to know of new contact. An ideal solution would be an adjustable alerting system that includes flashing the camera LED strobe which would even satisfy users working the loud production floor situations.
I have the same issue using OWA (Firefox on Linux).
Previous versions of OWA would create pop-ups windows With the new version i only get a chat-bubble icon that i have to click on to accept all incoming IMs.
Please make an option for OWA to automatically accept incoming IMs at pop-up browser windows.
I agree. We have recently deployed O365 for our business and almost nobody notices my messages. The main reason for this is twofold:
A) nobody hears the notification as almost everyone have their thinkpads muted
B) the chat window does not "jump up" on the screen as Chris so clearly mentioned in his comment.
I would recommend that you use your competitors as a role model, e.g. Hangouts extension for Chrome is ideal for IM as you can easily see in the notification area when someone has replied or sends you an IM.
agreed. make the icon flash until new IM is read.

I often miss calls!
I would suggest you try the following: Make the alert bar visible on top, with the width set for the hole screen-size.
