  • Tell us how we can improve Skype for Business

Add option to disable "Automatically adjust microphone settings" in Skype for Business client.

Need the option to disable the "Automatically adjust microphone settings" in Skype for Business client.
This option is available in "Skype" but not "Skype for Business".
This is needed if you use SfB in a noisy or call center environment.

If you use SfB certified headsets with the best microphone noise cancellation it made useless, since the volume is adjusted in windows sound settings automatically by SfB.

This is really bad and unworkable scenario in call center(RGS) environment when the microphone level auto adjust when you make SfB calls, the clients clearly hears all the adjacent agents speak.

So any time I make or receive a call via Skype for Business I have to first turn into a mime to let the other person know I am adjusting my microphone detection level, or shout at them like an angry politician. This really needs fixing.

Can't believe that there is no solution for such a stupid issue since years. Are we really talking about Business software?

This is the most frustrating thing about this product. The fact that this has been ask for since 2015 and it is 2018 and not yet added just shows how little they actually care

I don't get why the consumer skype variant has this feature since beginning and the business (paid) software still lacks of the ability to disable the automatic level adjustment.

No reply from Microsoft till now, guess they are busy making money by selling the skype for business to non technical customers.

This is a problem as a number of times the volume has been dialled down to 0 or very low levels for no apparent reason. This leaves the user very confused and frustrated. It is hard to fix this and going in a fiddling with the volume mid-call is a poor user experience.

This is frustrating. Please allow an option for Skype to NOT control the system recording level for my mic. Causes issues with other applications until I manually go and reconfigure my system microphone gain. This is crazy!

This is a serious usability problem - and needs to be fixed. Affects every call, requires adjusting the volume in every call over and over. Not something I would try to sell to my clients...

Please fix whenever i start a skype call i have to readjust my mic volume as the participants can't hear me well. i don't understand why there is no enable/disable

This needs to be a feature that can be disabled/enabled
Because we work with other softphone too, but skype adjust mic lvl too.

This issue has been open for almost 2 and a half years. Why has Microsoft not at least responded/commented? This is ridiculous! Please fix this!

It seems Skype just "remember" it's internal setting of mic volume level and then apply it before each call, rewriting Windows system settings. So workaround is to set desired level within Skype app.
At least it works for me.

I use a laptop with no headphones (i.e. with only the laptop's own microphone and speakers) to make Skype for Business calls. If I accidentally just touch the laptop (please note that the lid is closed), Skype automatically changes the microphone sound level too low so that the other participants can no longer hear me. Apparently the microphone picks this faint sound so aggressively, that Skype decides to change the sound level. This is a major nuisance. PLEASE add this option to SfB! Thanks!

This is driving me nuts frequently. To make it even worse, Skype for Business not only changes the microphone level in the application, but also in the device properties.

Having Skype for business changing the level / volume in the device properties has a myriad of side effects regarding other applications. -- Not to mention that it is a comparably hidden option many don't even look for.

          Ridiculous design decision.
