In Lync and SfB you can invite external people to a online meeting, and if these do not have Lync or SfB, they can install the web client, so that they can participate in the meeting via a browser. But a zero install / plugin free solution would be much better, so please speed up the development of a WebRTC&Ortc solution!
I'm wondering why the - Classic Skype web plugin - DO NOT require administrator privilege to be installed, when Skype Business web plugin require this privilege ?? Even when using IE.
The support for plugin-free SfB support in Edge is a fantastic development, but it needs expanded to browsers that enterprises actually use - Internet Explorer and Chrome. Edge is still far too premature for most organizations and too much of the internet needs backward compatibility still.
"Our outside participants are befuddled by the Lync/S4B web client"
Couldn't have said it better myself. Not to mention I work with clients in the DoD who can't install the plugin without calling their helpdesk, which means they just skip the meeting. This results in us wasting thousands of dollars every year on GoTo Meeting, whose plugin for whatever reason works on DoD networks, when SfB is a far superior product and could meet our basic requirements if it weren't for the accessibility issues.
Browser incompatibility, pop-up blocking, administrator rights. Our outside participants are befuddled by the Lync/S4B web client. HTML5 please! No Admin Rights Required. No Installation.
