What is an EPC?
If you are a landlord or a homeowner, you are required by law to provide an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) to buyers or tenants if your property is newly built, for sale or for rent.
An EPC Certificate rates a building’s energy efficiency on a scale from A (highly efficient) to G (highly inefficient). Usefully, it also shows what a property’s rating might be after efficiency improvements are made.
All EPCs are valid for 10 years, unless there are changes made to the thermal elements of your property. Then, you will need an updated EPC. Remember, under UK regulation you must have an EPC before you market your property as for sale or for rent, otherwise you may be on the receiving end of a fine!
