Scroll down automatically when new messages are received
Even when chat window is open, and new message is received, it doesn't scroll down, I always need to press the three-dots button on bottom right to see latest messages, very counter-productive.
Please enable automatic scroll to prevent having to move my tired little mouse cursor always to chat screen.
Same here.. SfB 216 MSO (16.0.7127.1026) 32-bit
Same as most people here, not being able to directly see the latest message in a conversation when a conversation 'pops-up' or when the conversation is already opened but not in focus, is really annoynig to say the least.
If it wasn't the 'official' tool I must use on my company laptop, I would definitely switch for another one.
Please have at least a setting allowing end-user to choose between several ways of handling this instant messaging history.
Terrible auto-scrolling capability.
When is it re-done properly? I hope to see this before I retire.
This is a show-stopper for this no-go product.

Oh, and Microsoft, can you please fix it before 2023?

Having "features" like that seems to indicate that employees at Microsoft must be using another IM tool for their own use. Anyone in their right mind would know that this is not an appropriate behavior for an IM tool.
Not cool Microsoft, not cool.
Terrible experience to go from "Lync" to Skype.
Would not recommend.
Our company just upgraded to windows 10 and skype enterprise. Definitely not a fan of this "feature". Reverse it or make it optional. This is not a good change. Missing many messages with this change.

Make this an option, perhaps even the default option, but also allow for a way to disable it.
I would like to be able to definitely turn an option like this off if it were added as this is far from conveinient. There are many times I will be scrolling back to look for something in a conversation and if it jumped back down to the bottom everytime someone typed something, I think I would throw something at my computer.
For work, we have a chat group of about 15 people and things being posted all day. If I come back after a day off and reading through messages, I do not want to spend an hour having to scroll back up and find where I left off just because it jumps to the newest message. Please never ever add this option without being able to disable it!

I would like to see it as an option. I'm okay with it not auto scrolling, especially when I'm in the middle of reading earlier comments. However, it should be the user's choice.

Installed today. Same issue. Frustrating. Missing messages on a customer call.

Optional Conversation Auto-Scrolling please
Bad design or at least give the option of freezing the chat at the latest message seen. There are pros and cons of both "freezing last message read" or scrolling to most recent.
Considering it was a operability change from how Lync worked, Skype for business should give you the choice.
Please make it possible to select the behaviour regarding scrolling
Yes, this is a rather annoying problem. SFB (and Lync) didn't always behave like this, so it appears that MS changed something. I'm running SFB 16.0.7127.1026 (32-bit) on Win7 (w/Office360) and I have this problem in all SFB conversation windows.
Yes, please fix this ASAP.
It should be configurable and my choice if it scroll down automatically or just indicate new messages. The needed behavior will depended on the work situation. I was assuming it is for business and should support business needs.
I disagree. I don't want to have to scroll up before I can catch back up on a conversation.

Even when I have already read all messages it will say I have missed messages to read. If I tab back to the conversation window it will always scroll up to the last "missed" message with no way to get rid of the orange dots next to the message.
