Need a better way to show notification. I miss messages because I do not see them. These are critical when I work remote. Appears I may not be working when I am!

seriously. Skype notifications suck. now as always. Wheres the control over ANY of it? sound choices? notification types? location? duration? repetition? its called instant MESSAGING. What messaging product of any kind can sit without getting your attention. phone calls, emails, smoke signals. They're all better than this.

Is there anyone on the Office team that could look at this issue and fix it for us please??

It is totally absurd that Microsoft hasn't addressed this issue. Complaints about non-persistent message notifications are plastered all over the Internet. This would take them so little time to address and is an important function of any IM application. If I step away from my desk for a few minutes, I come back to no indication that I missed an IM. I have had IM's sitting there waiting for me to respond for hours and didn't know they were there. What MS doesn't get is that a lot of us don't work exclusively in Skype. I might have 20 other application windows open at any given moment. I'm not going to keep checking Skype every 5 minutes to see if I received a message. Also, a lot of us work with 2 or 3 displays. I'm not even looking at the screen that has Skype on it a lot of the time. If you don't see a notification within 5 seconds, it will disappear and the IM will sit there until you actively decide to go check to see if you received any messages. Which when you're busy can be quite a while.
Oh and no, I'm not buying a 3rd party application for 300+ users to address this design defect. MS really needs to start focusing on the quality of its applications rather than the quantity.
Agree, I always miss calls because the small notification pops up on one screen while I'm focusing on another. It'd be nice to configure notifications to show on all screens, e.g. in the middle of the screen.

yes agree. I miss incoming calls all the time because the icon simply flashes a bit and nothing else happens. when I am deep in a spreadsheet or something, I need to see something much more obvious.. please solve and update.
Couldn't agree more!! So annoying. Who the **** tested this?
Please find a way to make notification alerts more noticeable.

No messaging apps that display toasters hide them again after 10 seconds....
The default should keep the toaster notification up, with options to change it's behavior if you want to.
Also, why doesn't the main window indicate there's a new message?? In my list of contacts it should show something in the UI that indicates there is an unread message.
Notifications are helpful, but whenever I get notified of a chat message while my phone is locked and flick the alert to go to the conversation the conversation is blank! This is a widespread issue. The conversation is simply gone. Nowhere in the mobile app can you bring it back. What's the point of a messaging app when you can't read your messages when they come through? All you can see is the preview in the alert, which typically isn't enough! Help, please!
Notifications should be more customisable, so that they really pop-up and stay on the screen until the user has seen them - I keep missing them, and this is simply not good.
Please benchmark with Sametime (Lotus Notes)!
Why nobody work on this topic. Big companies are really slow to fix simple problems. :(
I agree. We were forced to use Skype recently, and immediately noticed these annoying pop-ups that show for no important reason whatsoever. That is torture when you are trying to work!! If not resolved soon, will disable Skype and suffer the consequences. Did I say this is torture, Microsoft?
Need to be able to customize the notifications so they are not as easily missed.
We found a separate program to help with missing notifications in Skype for Business. It's called SuperToast. It pops up with a banner indicating you have a message and if you ignore it, it starts flashing until you take action.
Turn off the notification please. It is so annoying! Please help with this... Thanks.
Turn off the notification please. It is so annoying, especially when I'm presenting in the meeting.
SO PLEASE GIVE US AN OPTION TO TURN THIS THING OFF!!!

Would definitely like the ability to resize notifications or adjust how long they stay up. Right now the only thing you can really adjust is font or which corner to pop them up in.
I couldn't figure out how to stop the alerts that come up when someone becomes available again. Every time someone in the office gets up from their desk and then sits down again I get an alert. Its just too annoying.
First, functionality you call alerts is called desktop notification in other world... And second, it need to be configurable. Third, systray icon notification is other functionality which should be configurable.
Some basic ideas:
- on/off globally
- on/off for groups, contacts
- on/off based on your status
- notification content (partially implemented)
- what activity to notify [online, message, calendar, your group in meeting, ... ]
- how long to stay for different notifications [x ms, until focused, forever ... ]
PLEASE IMPROVE THIS!!
