Keep history in conversation
keep all history in the conversation, as is done in gtalk
I'd also add that all authenticated of my S4B clients should contain and retain all conversations. It's frustrating that I can start a conversation on my phone then, the recipient's response will inextricably go to my desktop and my laptop's open client won't show any of the conversation. Just update all clients with all the conversation(s) and comments in real time and have all clients retain the history. Seems to me that it'd be much simpler programmatically, especially since S4B's attempt at trying to figure out which client I'm on doesn't work.
Plus I may have to start a conversation on my desktop and, while in transit, continue it on my phone, then finish it on my laptop during an off site meeting. Seems to me that this would be a very common scenario.

I just closed a chat windows then realised I wanted to say something else, opened it again and the entire conversation was gone. Not saved in Outlook which is not where I want it anyway. This must be fixed.
I don't like Skype for Business. It needs to work similar to personal Skype which actually works quite well -- notifications do not always work on SforB. History of the converation is gone in SforB -- where is it? How do I set up SforB so I can see the history? The only thing goning for SforB is that I can find my colleagues easily --- However, many of them are using their Personal Skype accounts because Skype For business stinks.
So, if you are interested in saving history in Skype for Business, then take a look at the new product. This application allows you to see the entire history of correspondence with the interlocutor directly in the window of Skype for Business. It saves time, keeps nerves, increases efficiency.
We will be grateful for any feedback!
This is in Skype... so should not be hard to have it as part of Skype for Business..
related to topic "Continous Conversation / IM Roaming across devices" as well.

When I start a skype conversation on my phone the reply is in a new conversation and the history is lost.
These votes should be combined with this post: https://www.skypefeedback.com/forums/299913-generally-available/suggestions/8693269-store-the-conversation-history-within-the-applicat

Wow Leigh, that is one of the dumbest things I've read on this site, and that includes all the comments about Skype not having enough emoji.
This suggestion is poorly worded? No, it's concise. You can tell by the vote count that it's worded well enough to garner significant support. Perhaps you should consider the wording of your on comments before finding fault in others. Your comments come across as being written by a pompous douche. You might try staying on topic too, no one is complaining that the history entries aren't grouped by the GUIDs.
What I think Leigh really meant to say, is that it doesn't make sense how Microsoft felt the need to re-invent the wheel and put conversation history in the window for managing contacts, instead of the conversation window that the history belongs to. Microsoft has ignored a number established conventions for how instant messaging applications should work, and the result of doing so has resulted in a confusing and broken mess. The history isn't very useful in the location and format that Skype currently has it and it would be better for everyone involved if Microsoft looked at what a competent team has produced and tried to emulate that.
Unfortunately, in something like this, the Uservoice model breaks down. Many of the users on this site, Leigh included, are too simple minded to meaningfully contribute to the discussion.
This is such a poorly worded suggestion. It is also an insult to developers of one app to copy another. What the user probably meant was to keep conversations with the same person together. If the GUIDs for the user match, they go in the same conversation bucket. This is how the people app works in Windows 10.
It makes no sense to have 10 conversations in history with the same person. Not sure if it would be a detriment to not have separate exchanges broken up, but to me, this is not email, this is an IM tool.
Unfortunately, in something like this, the Uservoice model breaks down. The feature is too complex to have upvoted or downvoted because users want slightly different things.

This functionality of local logging of conversations was in Lync 2011. The fact that this feature isn't in Skype For Business is what keeps me from using it and have to use Lync still. The use of Exchange's Conversation History doesn't do me good as my Lync/Skype login is different from my main email account. Also, I want to be able to look at all my conversation history in 1 view (Like Lync has it) and not have to rely on Outlook's archive folders and dig through them to find the conversation I'm looking for. My company deletes email/conversation history after 45 days, so I would have to archive or it will be gone. Since you are dealing with Mac Users, there is no auto-archive in Outlook, so chances are, most people wouldn't have their Conversation History in Exchange archived locally anyways.
Bottom line, keeping local logging as a feature is essential to me before I can use this application.
Really, this is almost a bug and not a suggestion. How can we work with such a software without having the conversation history ? Moreover, I'd like to have this history without having to use exchange, make it as simple as the Skype free version please ! This paying product is less good that the free one, there is something wrong there.
yep. when I re-open the conversation, I don't see the history before. it's very inconvenience.
I have not used gtalk, but I am a regular traditional Skype user. When I work on a project with a team we insist on using traditional Skype (or some other tool) vs. Skype for Business just because of the conversation history. If I chatted with someone yesterday, I need to be able to easily go to one UI, find the topic and restart the conversation. Displaying conversation history in the same place as new messages is critical to our use of this product.
The "Conversation History" for Skype chats in Outlook is very flat -- it doesn't retain any of the images or files, just the conversation text and file names for the images (I don't even know if or where those image files exist. At a minimum they should be links). When I don't want to close the chat because I am going to lose information, it is clear that something is missing from history. I expected to be able to open history and see it as I did the day it happened. It doesn't matter to me where or how history is saved, I'd just like it to be saved completely.
I am new to Skype and Outlook, so I apologize for speaking too quickly if I just missed some important setting that turns on the image and file history I wanted.
Please do this, not having this feature is asinine! I need to have all my past communications at my fingertips no different than sending an SMS or using imessage. This is a tremendous disappointment in Skype for Business
